Vodka Doesn't Freeze

The thrilling novel from clinical psychologist turned crime writer, now with a great new cover.

The thrilling novel from clinical psychologist turned crime writer, now with a great new cover.

When a middle-aged man is brutally murdered in the dunes overlooking a children's pool, it's immediately clear to Sergeant Jill Jackson that this was no ordinary victim: someone has stopped a dangerous paedophile in his tracks. Knowing first-hand the impact of such men on their prey, Jill is ambivalent about pursuing the killer, but when more men die - all known to police as child sex offenders - she is forced to face the fact that a serial killer is on the loose. As the investigation deepens, Jill unearths a long-established Sydney paedophile ring - a club of wealthy men who have thought until now that that they are untouchable. Despite the deaths of some of its members, the club is still operating and until Jill can shut it down, children are still in grave danger. As she faces predators and their victims, a psychotherapist losing her mind, and her own nightmares come to life, Jill is forced to decide whether or not she really wants to catch this killer.

Praise for Vodka Doesn't Freeze

I can happily recommend this book highly to fans of psychological thriller readers.

After Dark My Sweet

Particularly nasty crime fiction that threatens to keep you awake at night can always be dismissed with that hoary old chestnut “It’s only make-believe” ... No such comfort with a debut book by Leah Giarratano.

Lucy Clark, Sunday Telegraph

Her book is a chiller and quite a hard one to put down.

Courier Mail

Vodka Doesn’t Freeze...has a sensational and involving plot, and (as you would expect) psychologically accurate characterisations

The Age

Praise for Black Ice: Definitely one for those who like their crime novels tough and demanding

Australian Bookseller and Publisher

Praise for Black Ice: This stands up against any bestseller of the genre and then its local setting makes it better

West Australian

Praise for Black Ice: With plenty happening, Giarratano is cool and calm at the controls. In a word- suspenseful

Gold Coast Bulletin

Praise for Black Ice: Leah's writing remains tight and true and really quite exciting.

Courier Mail

Praise for Black Ice: Although Leah obviously draws on her enormous experience as a clinical psychologist working with both victims and psychopaths to flesh out her characters, she demonstrates increasing confidence and writing skill with each and every book.

Derek Dryden, Better Read Than Dead Bookshop

Praise for Voodoo Doll: Giarratano's second thriller is a page-turner, noteworthy for its expert characterisation and often chilling psychological veracity.

The Age

Praise for Voodoo Doll: There is no denying that Giarratanoís strengths are in the crafting of her characters. No cardboard cutouts are these, but beautifully constructed and wonderfully fleshed out, as readers of Giarratanoís first novel have come to expect.
