PETER BEREN is co-author of THE WRITERS COMPANION (Perseus, 1998) and editor of CALIFORNIA THE BEAUTIFUL (VIA/Welcome Books, 2002), a San Francisco Chronicle regional bestseller, featuring the photography of Galen Rowell. Formally Publisher of Sierra Club Books and founding Publisher of VIA Books, Peter lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Susan, a publishing professional.
