10 Signs You Are Actually A Published Author (Part 2)
by Ben Chandler on 17 September 2010
A couple of days ago I started a Top Ten list of signs that you are an actual published author. Then I ran over my word limit. I considered cutting it down to a Top Five, but I was having too much fun. So, as promised, here are the Top Five signs you are an actual published author. 5. People (other than your mother) have read your book.
4. People stop asking (however briefly) when you’re going to give up that whole writing thing and get a real job.
3. You get to work with two of the best editors in the business! Thanks, Zoe and Sarah!
2. You are invited to speak at writers’ festivals. This is an enormous amount of fun. Plus, you get to meet people who have read your book – so cool!
1. People ask you when your next book is coming out. Come on, people, it’s only been a week! But to answer your question – Beast Child will be out NEXT September. If you can’t wait any longer, head over to my website for a sneak peek! www.benchandler.com.au
Well, that’s it from me over here. Thanks for a great week of bloggage. Blogging? Bloganating? Anyway, whatever you call it, I’ve had a blast!

Ben lives mostly in worlds of his own creation but occasionally misses real stuff and has to return home. At the moment, that means Adelaide, a city where he currently has far too many jobs, one of which involves teaching English Literature and Creative Writing at Flinders University. For the past eight years, Ben has been studying Fantasy, and he thinks it's the coolest thing ever that someone gave him a doctorate for doing it. He loves heroes, villains, graphic novels, and video games, and he thinks you can learn more from watching cartoons than you can from the news. Like all fantasy writers, Ben has a cat. His cat is named Loki. It's possible Loki is the reincarnation of the God of Mischief, but Ben hopes this is just a flight of his fancy.
