Brett Lee - My Life OUT NOW + Read a Sample Chapter
by Alison Urquhart on 7 November 2011
Cricketing legend Brett Lee's autobiography is released this month. Random House Australia publisher Alison Urquhart talks about working with Brett Lee and James Knight on Brett's new book and her affection for the game of cricket:
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved cricket. I used to go to watch it with my Dad at Lords and later bunked out of school in England to go and watch the County cricket. However, I always loved the Tests the most and watching the Australians was always the most exciting of all. I remember one of the first times I saw Brett Lee play was after I’d moved to Australia and was simply dazzled by his pace and flair. How could anyone possibly hit the balls he was sending fizzing at ridiculous speed down the wicket?
It has been a great pleasure, then, to work with Brett and James Knight on his autobiography. I love Brett’s passion for music as well has his passion for cricket and it’s been a fabulous balance hearing his delightfully star-struck stories about meeting Neil Finn, for example, as well the tales of him staring down opening batsmen and the camaraderie of the Australian team over the years. It’s a great read: it’s humorous, candid and shows Brett to be the enormously likeable and well-respected man you’d expect.
