For the Women in Your Life AWW Magazine Shoot
by Random House Australia on 19 October 2011
Shooting our Christmas campaign ‘For the Women in Your Life’ was such a fun day for all involved including our very own Susan Duncan, Julie Goodwin, Judy Nunn and Caroline Overington.
The photo-shoot took place in a sun-filled studio at Camperdown in Sydney. All four women arrived bright and early at 7:30am, raring to go for a day of hair, make-up, styling, photos and plenty of tasty food – inspired of course by Julie Goodwin’s own recipes!

A superstar in her own right, Julie Goodwin was totally awe-struck when she met Judy Nunn. Julie couldn’t contain her excitement and wanted to have her photo taken with Australia’s master storyteller so she could show her mum.
The entire shoot went seamlessly and all four women proved themselves genuine models – professional at both smiling constantly and wearing teetering high-heels for long periods of time! It was a particularly reflective day for Susan Duncan, who spent many years on the other side of the camera in her role as Editor at The Australian Women's Weekly and New Idea. She regaled us with anecdotes of the magazine business and even inspired a spontaneous sing-along with Judy Nunn, filling the room with dulcet tones that will be remembered for a long time to come.
Judy Nunn was the life and soul of the shoot – a true Australian icon, sharing her stories, her jokes and her music. She also inspired a series of shots in which the women held the books above their heads. This was one of the women’s favourite shots, as they could happily pose and talk at the same time!
Our style queen for the day had to be Caroline Overington. A true beauty, Caroline came to the shoot with countless boxes of Manolo Blahnik shoes. They were exquisite and our stylist Julia Fett was simply speechless . . . I think secretly she wished she could take them home for a day (or two)!
And Julie Goodwin was quick to provide us all with handy cooking tips throughout the day from her new book, including how to make the best ‘No-bake Chocolate Cheesecake’.
You can download Julie's ‘No-bake Chocolate Cheesecake’ recipe here

The photo-shoot wrapped up at around 2pm, the Manolo Blahnik shoes were safely returned to their rightful owner (drat!) and the women left with new friendships formed and many beautiful pictures to remember the day.

Check out the final image from our photo-shoot in the November issue of The Australian Women's Weekly or in a good bookstore near you. If there is a woman in your life that inspires you, then give her one of these incredible books and make her day.
