Great News for Random House’s Children’s Authors

OUT OF SHADOWS by Jason Wallace, ANNEXED by Sharon Dogar and BARTIMAEUS: THE RING OF SOLOMON by Jonathan Stroud are three out of four nominees to be shortlisted in this year’s Costa Book Awards in the Children’s Book category.

The three nominees received high praises from the judges, noting:

OUT OF THE SHADOWS as "A stunning debut novel without a false note.  Accomplished and powerful, it changes the way you think."

BARTIMAEUS: THE RING OF SOLOMON as "Fast, playful and lyrical, this deliciously irreverent book was sheer delight."

ANNEXED as "A brave re-imagining of a harrowing story and an iconic figure."

The final judging panel for the award will be announced in December this year, and the award winners on 5 January 2011.
