IMPAC Dublin Literary Award Longlist Announced

The 2012 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award longlist was announced last night and there are two Random House authors included on the list. Roger McDonald’s When Colts Ran and Nicholas Shakespeare’s Inheritance are both in the running for the world’s most valuable annual literary prize.
Roger McDonald’s When Colts Ran is a sweeping epic tale of friendship, toil and hope. It has previously been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award and the Prime Minister’s Prize for Literature.

While Nicholas Shakespeare’s Inheritance is the extraordinary story of one man’s failed love, the temptations of unanticipated wealth and the price of being true to oneself. It is noted as an ‘absorbing and readable with clever turns.’

The IMPAC Dublin Literary Awards are open to all books in the English language and the books are nominated by libraries.
A shortlist for this prize will be announced 12 April 2012 and the winner on 13 June. The award has been won only once by an Australian author, David Malouf in 1996 with his book Remembering Babylon.
