Mike Carlton’s CRUISER and Debi Marshall’s LAMBS TO THE SLAUGHTER are among 9 books to be longlisted in this year’s Walkley Book Awards.

The Walkleys are Australia’s most prestigious media accolades across print, radio, television and photography, as well as publishing.

The judges held high praises for both Carlton and Marshall’s works, noting, ‘Mike Carlton’s CRUISER sets a fine example for the narrative historical non-fiction genre. . . Carlton has deftly and passionately told a compelling story through the characters – all of them real people who live and breathe on the page.’

‘Debi Marshall’s affecting account of child-killer Derek Ernest Percy, LAMBS TO THE SLAUGHTER, is a compulsively readable rendering of the crimes of a man who personifies pure evil.’
