Synopsis
Run To Me is a non-stop, impossible-to-put-down suspense thriller with riveting twists and turns, as a 'mother and son' go on the run...
It's been two years since Shyler O'Neil's beloved son Jesse was killed – but his final moments are as vivid to her now as they were that dreadful day. Suffering from post-traumatic stress, and convinced she did not do enough to protect him, she retreats to an isolated cabin in the woods of northern Maine.
Meanwhile, Zack Ballinger – a ten-year-old boy who has never known a mother's love – finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. He's seen too much and is now running for his life.
Fleeing into the woods, Zack soon finds himself at Shyler's cabin. He'll take whatever help she can give – even though, for some reason, she keeps calling him Jesse . . .
With the pursuers hot on their heels, ‘mother' and ‘son' go on the run. Protecting Zack may well be Shyler's one chance at redemption.
Either that, or she is the child's greatest threat . . .

ReportRun To Me is the debut novel from author Diane Hester and tells a potent story about love, grief and secrets. Two years ago Shyler lost her son Jesse in a robbery gone wrong. Blamed by her now ex-husband as the cause of his death despite the courts believing her story, she becomes a hermit up in Deadwood, a skiing town in Northern Maine where she spent time as a little girl. She is barely functioning as a human being but she is content to be where she is at. However, a little boy is about to walk into her life and bring changes for the better. Zach does not care about himself but he is worried for his little foster brothers, Reese and Corey, and makes sure he gets the brunt of any punishment from their foster parents who don’t care for the kids and use the state aid to get drunk. So when two social workers knocked on door and take them away, they think that they are saved , But it The boys never expected to go on a adventure they will never forgot. I was captivated from the moment we meet Zach, the boy who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. He has had a hard life and the things he goes through to keep his promise to Corey and Reese to find them a good home I found engaging and couldn't put it down. ReportSo this is me….happily reading and reviewing quite a few lovely romance novels, as well as a beautiful mystery/legal thriller. I pick up ‘Run to Me’, read the blurb, and start reading. Straightaway I feel like I am hit side on – obviously the blurb did not register with me, or perhaps my expectations were skewed by all the romance I had been reading. So it took me a little while to register what was happening in this book. The book was action packed, totally thrilling and I had my heart in my mouth throughout. I did not want to put the book down until I found out what happened. You are kept off balance by not knowing who is bad and who is good and this changes throughout the novel. For a first time author this book is very well written, has a tight plot and is very plausible and original. Diane Hester writes so vividly that it wasn’t difficult to imagine all the scenes as they were written. The ending was also very satisfying. An absolute page turner! Recommended.

ReportShyler O’Neil, still reeling from the tragic death of her son becomes a recluse, preferring the solitude of her cabin keeping outside contact to a minimum. Unfortunately her path is about to cross that of ten-year-old Zachary Ballinger who has been abducted from his foster home along with his two foster brothers. Zack thinks that crawling into Shyler’s vehicle will keep him safe but he's about to realise that he's just fallen into his worst nightmare. From dodging bullets to escaping the charge of a male moose, Shyler and Zack are on the run. Dr Chase Hadley has treated her twice and has become somewhat obsessed by her mysterious façade. With no telephone or address details for her, he finally goes through his patient records in an attempt to extract information and picks up a lead to Shyler’s estranged mother, Patricia. When he finally locates Shyler’s remote cabin he is left both disturbed and bewildered and flees to his practice to call for help only to end up staring straight down the barrel of a shotgun. With a desperate woman, an ill and somewhat hostile child and some seriously wicked pursuers, Chase needs to determine if his telephone conversation with Shyler’s ex-husband has any merit while Zack will need to get over his abandonment issues and Shyler will need to trust him. This debut novel is a taut psychological thriller with a well thought out plot. A compelling and suspenseful read with all the elements of a page turner.
