Thirty-six-year-old Emma's life looks as perfect as could be. She loves her straight-laced husband Gary, who has given her three beautiful children and a secure life. But something is missing in her marriage. Gary hardly notices her anymore and she feels frumpy and invisible.

Her friend, Lisa, talks her into joining a social boot camp class at the local gym. Emma immediately recognises their instructor as the gorgeous runner she sees each evening while walking her dog in the park. He introduces himself as Ramon Mendez. In spite of herself Emma is besotted.

Before long her mind is filled with guilty fantasies of him. One evening, when things at home have become too much to bear, she bumps into him alone in the park. An opportunity presents itself and no one need ever know. Ramon promises and delivers everything that's missing from her marriage - passion, romance and excitement - but Emma must discover if they are the things she really wants.

    Ramon is back and this time he has set his sights on a new woman. Set a few months (this my guess) after the first book Breaking the Rules, this second novella, Bloom, focuses on Ramon’s working life. Ramon is working as a fitness trainer, but don’t worry: he is still working on his PhD when he happens to meet Emma who appears to be his next case. Emma has seen him around the park where she walks her dog and has been admiring him as he runs. However, she does not know who he is and she is about to after she gets roped into signing up for a gym class. Her friend, Lisa, has signed her up for Boot Camp where Ramon is the trainer and he recognises the family dog Nag he got himself tangled up with at the park which is perfect for his plans. Emma’s marriage is in a rut. After three kids, she and her husband Gary have grow apart. She’s dealing with the kids and the drat dog and he’s engrossed in his work to the point that he seems that he doesn’t care about anything else and gives in to whatever the kids want.
