About

Georgia Harper invites you to delve into her fascinating journey from psychologist to debut author.

From her paddock in Allora and under the watchful supervision of her horse, Georgia penned her first novel What I Would Do to You.

In a near-future Australia, the death penalty is back. But if the victim’s family wants the perpetrator to die, they must be the ones to carry out the execution.

Ten-year-old Lucy was murdered in bushland adjoining her family farm. Through the lens of counselling sessions with the court-appointed psychologist, What I Would Do to You explores the moral complexity faced by the surviving family. Their agonizing question: What punishment could possibly compensate for their loss? And if they choose to proceed, can they live with the consequences?

What I Would Do to You blends intelligent crime with speculative fiction, exploring our primal capabilities while weaving in stories of the natural world, life on the land, and love.

Join the conversation and discover Georgia’s path to publication, her research and the experiences that shaped her debut.
